Late afternoon stint on Captains today.Tried one of the new swims first, this gets a bit more sun than most. Someone had been raking today and a lot of floating weed left on the surface making it difficult to get a bait in and then hold float still.
Did have one dithery bite but decided on a move. This new spot was is just past the second jetty. The fizzes in the front of the swim were I eventually worked out to be more than one carp and were from spooked, not feeding fish. almost under the staging rather than the pike I first assumed
Again more disturbed fish , all around the float.
Given the fish about it took a while to get any interest till I tried prawn, dropped one almost straight away on the strike and then hooked another carp which went through the weed and the hook pulled.First carp I've hooked on the pond. Appetite whetted but hope it gets a bit warmer .

Dear bureboy
Thank you for your interest in registering on the Traditional Fishermans Forum

what you think you can bring to the forum.

Please also note that the primary focus of this forum is the discussion of
traditional fishing tackle (primarily cane rods and older reels) and

Good evening
Seemed like an interesitng forum really and as I just llike the idea of talking time out to enjoy being by the water and watching and sometimes catching or not catching fish and drinking in everything else around whilst doing so I don't think I would ever envisage discussing what equipment I had used to do so whether it was from some ghastly discount warehouse or from some venerable factor of days of yore rather that it was enjoyable and because of that worth sharing.
Great news....I am in but not sure if either my drivell will go down well or whether I actually want to join their gang anyway
Bah humbug

Warmth
Blowing a hooley today, but a warm hooley. Great to feel some warmth in the bones at last! Somewhat different yesterday on the Sussex coast, driving through the clouds on the Downs. Have yet to get this years rod licence so made do with a quick look at Captains tonight which has been a bit busy of late with several carp out. Frogs making up for lost time and I just missed seeing a nice mid doubles common to Liam, one of the Captain's crew. Looking down to the dam from the boathouse
Quite a bit of this needed to keep some little spots open with a trickle of feed going in. The rake in the top shot is a boat job though.

Running the tide
The boat channel at Wells -next-the-Sea comes close to shore. The tide runs quickly over a large shallow expanse of sand and the boats wait to catch the in-rushing tide to come in and out of Wells Harbour. This vessel is literally a stones throw from the beach. Makes a change not to see snow today
