Making the most of a bad job

Sunday and still that cold wind. Another swim on the now fading Blue Lagoon. Much shallower and with that wind the tow was brisk. Problem was, I'd left the float tube back at home. Found a small 3bb waggler in the shot and hook box.

Meant I was not able to present  a slowed down bait, and the float was too short and not man enough to stay up when the shot inevitably dragged.  Could just about cast to the sprayed  hemp and red maggitt and had a reasonable stab at some roach and small skimmers. Just once the occasional  float dropped short did the biz and straight away I knew it was a bigger fish and then the red dorsal broke the surface. Panic over and in the pan net and  a lovely fresh chunk of a roach just needed it's time under the Flyweight Mk 2. I'd have given more than the 1.02.08 registered but what a lovely fish

Here is the other side. And the stabby, pointy finger of strong, stable leadership.

Then I went home for my tea.

    1. Thanks Dyl, I am quite keen on roach at the moment. Seen some absolute leviathans in the Forbidden Stream. Big enough to draw my eyes off the 6lb+ chub that's for sure.
