Make it Rayn(er)

Thursday saw me heading up that there Naarich for another helping of Jay Rayner at the Assembly Rooms via the Bittern Line and  our lovely new dual power fleet.

It's quite quiet of a Thursday night in our fine city, quadrapuled with Rouen, Koblen, Novisad and apparently somewhere else in Nicaragua

I find it hard to find beer in Naarich of late that is not identikit Citra style grapefruit IPA but the Coach and Horses has a few actual beers in usually. This is simply Coach, with my one packet for the night of actually spot on scratchings. I had two Coach though. That didn't make them Geese.

Anyhoo,  crashing tthrough the porticoed entrance and slipping in the back row breathing out beer and renderd lard I settled down to await the entrance of the very much larger than life Jay Rayner

though not on this occassion expected to appear in a bath of scratchings. Rayner is he assured us Jew-ish and non observant of dietrary laws particularly when matters porcine are considered.

I ve said it before and I'll say it again, Rayner is  a consumate performer with a very quick turn of phrase and a good yarn or two. You'll have to read the book or see the tour to understand how he was taken in hand on a bus in Turkey, clad only in espadrilles and  a very accessible pair of dungarees and the 9 things he would most like at that last supper.  Or how he nearly set an alpine ski resort on fire flambeing snails. What you may or may not hear is his vitriolic hatred of John Burton-Race, a hatred I can well understand.

If I now have Covid -19 please track down the drunken chap with recession breathing and the most virulent expectoration and wiping of mouth, nose, and that expectorant all over the first carriage of the last train vomet comet with his stubby little Iphone tapping fingers. The host and vector of an unspeakable pestilence  paid to Wroxham and got off at Walsham, a full virus shedding two stops down the line. The bounder.

  1. His hatrid of Burton - Race sounds interesting as well as understandable. A good show by the sounds of it.

    1. I've seen B-R on TV a couple of times and he seemed a singularly unpleasant turd. Where should we go with Shanus next week?
