Kicking off the backend binge

Got almost all of the last two weeks off and hoping for some relief from the bastard wind.

Had a couple of hours on a wind blasted Colden Pond on Saturday, one which fell off and  a short fat one that kept hold of the sardine. I guessed about 6lb. Going to start trickling in some bait to get the tench and bream rooting about.

I was glad of my pre-fish Brains and mash

and  a post fish steak.

Off to the lower stretch of the river today and it was blustery and cold, though bright at times. River lower than of late, and loosing much of it's colour. Can't say that for the willow and dogwood.

Hard going with only two chances either side of the older willow in the foreground below, both on a twitch back 10 mins after lobbing in the deadbait.

Both fish very plump, the second though smaller certainly more determined not to submit to the net

A tomato soup sort of a day.
